Sergio grinned back at her. It hadn’t really hurt him, but it sure did knock him off-balance. It could have said something about his hand-to-hand skills, or possibly his pain tolerance. He was also trying to get on Camille’s good side, for possibly more than one reason. If it cheered her up to hit something, he’d gladly be her punching bag. She was pretty much right, he was used to getting tossed around, it wasn’t a big deal anymore.
“Great,” he said, “I’ll meet ya at your tent in… I dunno, fifteen?”
He had to go back and get his armor again and his sword. With Camille there and her lack of experience, he didn’t expect to use them; especially since she had an assault rifle and not a melee weapon. He’d let her do most of the work anyway, it wasn’t out of pity, but out of necessity. He’d help her if she needed it.
He charged over to his tent, getting his armor and strapping it on himself. He hated going on scouting missions by himself, he was pretty happy about this decision.

Camille blinked. He was just standing there grinning like an idiot after she punched him in the jaw? Did he have a layer of pillows or something under his skin to absorb the impact? Well, if he did get as punched around as she thought, maybe he'd be used to it by now, but still. It was strange.
"Sounds good," Camille said. She wandered off to her tent to go grab her assault rifle. That would be good to use, after all. Was it even possible to defeat demons with hand to hand combat? Camille didn't think so. Her eyes wandered over to the book she had been supposed to read and only finished about halfway through. That might tell her, but she didn't have time to read it now.
So she just grabbed her Kalashnikova rifle and slung it around her shoulders before exiting her tent. She was just waiting for Sergio to come back now.

Sergio jogged back to Camille’s tent with a silly grin on his face.
“Ready? ‘Cuz this oughtta be good fun,” he said, “Slayin’ demons for tha… mostly first time.”
He was excited, he hadn’t been out and about since he had Camille gun down a Hellmouth in front of him.
“Le’s go,” he said, heading south of the camp.
He jogged his way to the end of the camp and about a mile out. It was a vast plain with dried grass all around. Sergio kept quiet, for once, looking around. He was inspecting the horizon. They had been at this campsite for awhile, Conall got wind that they might be followed in the South by a hell wolf, so he sent Sergio.
“Lemme know if ya see anyfing,” he said quietly, “I’ll go left, you go right, circle ‘round and I’ll meetcha in the middle.”

"Of course I'm ready," Camille said. Well, the thought of killing demons was cheering her up, maybe a little more than it should have. "And yeah, don't forget the actual first time killing them." That had been just a few days before, and Camille hadn't really been thinking about it. It was just something that seemed to work. Creepy dog seal things attacking this guy with a sword- Why not shoot them?
Camille jogged with Sergio, looking around. A grassy plain, huh? Looked like something from the Lion King, really. Hopefully they wouldn't get trampled by a ton of. . Deer-like animals. Had those been gazelles? Camille didn't know; she wasn't a zoologist.
"Got it," Camille whispered back. She went right, her eyes scanning around, looking for anything that might jump out at her. She didn't see anything yet, but she of course knew that she had to stay on her guard.

Sergio went his direction, keeping his body low to the ground and his eyes scanning. He didn’t want to be surprised anymore than Camille did. He walked slowly, but made it back around to the end of the circle he designated without problem.
The deer herd was right in front of Camille, but several looked up and around, not even at her. They suddenly bolted in the opposite direction of Camille, a sure sign of danger if there ever were one. There was a large flower planted in the ground, it was purple and shot straight into the air with lovely purple petals shooting out from each side. From the bottom it had several tendrils curling around the base, apparently to support the heavy flower on top. It was an unusual and interesting flower, but suddenly one of the tendrils began to slowly snake out and wrapped itself around Camille’s ankle, getting longer, following her footsteps and tightening around her ankle slowly.

Camille noticed the deer herd. Oh, great. So there was an actual deer herd. Camille found herself wondering why deer were even in a grassy plain, didn't they belong in forests or something? And weren't gazelles those deer-things? She was becoming more and more convinced that those things in the Lion King had been gazelles.
At least they were running away from her, except she suddenly realized that that might not be such a good thing. Especially when she noticed something around her ankle- Oh, fuck. So she shouted for Sergio, grabbed her rifle, and began shooting at the flower. Too bad, it had been a pretty flower, but really, it was trying to kill her. Camille really did not want to be breakfast for a demon.
She thought of another course of action, but she couldn't really do it while shooting. So instead what she did was use her other foot to stomp on the part of the plant that was attached to her ankle.

Sergio thought he heard something in the distance. He righted himself and jogged to the sound, hoping it was Camille and not a demon. Or maybe the other way around, he wasn’t sure.
The plant wasn’t very susceptible to bullets, being so small, but it suddenly began yanking at Camille’s leg. Suddenly, as she began kicking the one at her leg, more of the tendrils came shooting out and wrapped themselves around her legs and a few around her gun hand. They dragged her slowly to the flower, which had morphed into a large axe and looked precariously placed, so the moment she disturbed the main stalk, it would probably drop onto her. It suddenly made a hissing noise, very clearly trying to make its prey panic. It was strong, but it wasn’t dragging very quickly.

"Shit," Camille muttered, staring at the axe. She wasn't panicking, just trying to think her way out of this. Stiletto knives couldn't hack and slash, so she couldn't use hers. They were meant for stabbing. Shit. She really should've thought things through more. Camille closed her eyes for a second and tried to control her breathing. Staying calm was best in this situation, even if she really, really did not want to. She opened her eyes again, and looked back at the giant axe. Oh, fuck. She couldn't die now.
Sergio would be getting here soon, hopefully. Camille didn't want to have to be rescued or anything, but at this rate, well. . She tried to ground herself, tried to keep from being pulled by the plant. That was the only thing she really could do right now. God dammit, why wasn't this thing susceptible to bullets? Then again, shooting it right now wasn't the best option.

The plan suddenly started yanking on Camille’s legs, trying to pull her off balance. Sergio stopped as he saw a huge mess of vines slowly dragging their way across his path. Oh no, he wasn’t very familiar with this kind of demon.
“Shit!” he swore, when he looked to the other end and saw Camille, “What’n tha hell?”
He immediately pulled his sword out of the scabbard on his back and began to hack at the vines holding Camille. The flower shrieked and began pulling faster, but the vines were indeed breaking. He kept hacking, hoping that Camille was far enough away that he wouldn’t hurt her or she wouldn’t get hurt by the damn axe.
“Fuck, Camille can ya pull harder or somethin’?” he yelled.
The axe at the near the flower began to teeter. Sergio started hacking faster, trying to figure out if the damn thing would fall!

Camille was now focusing on staying balanced. She centered herself as best she could while being tugged on by a plant. God, being a damsel in distress really sucked. Well, at least she was with Sergio and not someone who would just be an asshole and let the plant eat her. Speaking of Sergio, he just showed up. Well, that was good.
"I'll try," Camille said, pulling back against the vines. She looked up at the axe nervously but didn't panic, instead just focusing on fighting this plant. It was strong, definitely, and so Camille was putting her all into fighting it. Maybe she shouldn't have been so critical of using swords earlier. They certainly had their uses when you needed to hack something up. Well, she still didn't really know how to use a sword, and so she decided to stick to her assault rifle. Still, in the future, she needed to have something with her in case she had to slice something.
