Marian blinked in surprise and almost smiled. "Really?" he asked. "That's great! Where did you find him?" He looked over at Hans and inspected him. Tall, blond, with a confused look on his face. Well, he did look like someone who Dago would pick up, so Marian had every right to think that the reason he was here was because Dago wanted sex.
Sometimes, Marian just wasn't in the mood, or was too busy. Of course, Dago was always in the mood. Sometimes it wasn't so bad when Dago bothered him, but other times it was really, really annoying.
Oh well, there were other attractive mages who might actually think about sleeping with Dago now, so hopefully those two years would pass by soon enough. Marian liked having sex with Dago, but when you were the only one who Dago could sleep with, it got a little frustrating.
"What's your name, and what kind of magic do you use?" Marian finally asked Hans.
"Norway," Hans answered. "And I use ice magic." Marian was glad. Another aggressive mage!

Dago winced. He didn’t think Marian would find it so great when he found out how Hans broke his seal. He ignored Marian’s question about where he found him; that would be a later conversation.
He knew that he got a bit annoying to Marian and he didn’t like to be annoying. He could tell sometimes when he got to be too much, but occasionally his libido didn’t let him care. He didn’t want to drive Marian away for the next two years.
Marian looked happy enough right now, but Dago had to break it to him that it was Dago’s fault that Hans broke his seal. Also that he’d ditched him while searching for the Library and had accidentally used glamour to make him believe ridiculous lies he told.
“I have to talk to you when you’re done,” he muttered to Marian, leaning over his desk.

Marian raised his eyebrows only a little at Dago's statement. Hm. That could be good or bad. Marian hoped it was good. Bad news was always bad. It seemed obvious, but when the Order was concerned, if there was bad news, that meant something was horrible.
He looked up at Hans. "You're dismissed," he said. "Your room is upstairs and on the left wing. Find an empty room, and it's yours." That was how things worked around here. He wasn't going to assign anyone rooms like they were college students living in a dorm. He really hoped that they didn't act like college students.
A Library full of frat boys wasn't something he wanted.
After Hans left, Marian made sure the door was shut- And locked, just in case someone else decided to come barging in- Before turning his attention back to Dago.
"What's going on?" he asked, frowning. He hoped this was a good talk.

Dago sighed in relief when Hans left. He had a lot of ground to cover to make things right in that department, but that could wait until later. He’d wait until Hans could control his magic without accidentally making a skating rink before he tried to make it up to him.
“He had his seal broken for almost a year now,” he muttered, rubbing his temples with one hand, “I’m the reason it’s broken.”
He sighed, figuring he had to be a lot more specific, “It was the first time I had to feed and it ended up being a bad bite. I made sure he wasn’t going to bleed out and by the time he was alright, it was daytime. I had to stay at his apartment for the day and I had to leave before he found out anything.”
He looked up at Marian with a bit of a helpless expression; he hoped Marian was going to go a little easy on him.

Marian stared at Dago expressionlessly as he recanted the events, although inside his brain was whirring. A whole year? Dear god, no wonder he'd been wearing Zed's anti-magic bracer. Marian shuddered to think of what it would be like to not have one's magic under control for an entire year.
And then there was Dago, who was causing a little trust issue. Not that Marian trusted anyone- Oh, of course not. But this just proved that he absolutely couldn't trust anyone. Dago hadn't told him about the kid with the broken seal when he'd arrived at the Order. He'd kept the Order from having one new mage for half a year.
That was unacceptable.
"And why didn't you tell me when you arrived. .?" Marian asked, a frown finally appearing on his face. He didn't care about how Hans' seal had broken, but what bothered him was the fact that Dago just hadn't ever mentioned it.

Dago winced when Marian started speaking. He knew better than to assume the calm was a good thing.
“There were a lot more important things going on, I was going to bring it up, but it slipped my mind,” he said, mentally kicking himself.
He was going to end up in the dog house; no matter what he said or did at this point. He didn’t mention Hans to Marian, who probably was the best person to help Hans. Dago felt like an idiot for forgetting to mention; he was too busy worrying about dying in between ditching Hans and finding the Order. Then it was the Havas family troubles…, but aside from that, he really didn’t have an excuse.
The last thing Dago wanted to do was to break Marian’s trust. Now he was sitting here telling Marian that he’d forgotten a very vital piece of information; he knew where he stood already.

"There was still time to. The Chao Xi members didn't arrive until you'd been here for a few months, and everything with my. . My father didn't happen until then," Marian said, his frown deepening. "So that really isn't an excuse."
He wasn't exactly happy. Here, there had been a mage, someone who they could train and who could help them, and Dago had known about it all along and had just forgotten about it? Oh, wait.
"So did you suddenly remember him again or something?" Marian asked, crossing his arms and staring at Dago. He doubted that, but he did want to know how Dago had tracked down Hans again. Obviously, Dago hadn't remembered, because he hadn't even remembered to tell Marian about him.
He felt like his trust had been betrayed, really. He'd given just a small amount of it to Dago, who had just gone and broken someone's seal and then not told him. What if the Chao Xi had found Hans first, and what if their temple hadn't burnt down? Then another faction would still be more powerful than they. How frustrating.

“You’re right, I made a mistake,” he said, raking his hands though his hair, “It’s not going to happen again.”
He said it more for his own benefit than for Marian’s. It was up to Marian to believe him or not, but any trust Dago might have gained was lost and unlikely to be given back so quickly. He grit his teeth when Marian asked if he’d tracked him down again. He wished he could say he did.
“I left him a way to get a hold of me, he called,” he said, biting his tongue from saying anymore. It would simply be more insults to himself.
He knew that strengthening their numbers was important to Marian. He knew that he’d endangered Hans by abandoning him and he knew they could have been training him this entire time. He didn’t bother apologizing yet, not until Marian figured out what he needed to know. An apology would fall on deaf ears at this point, anyway.

"You're damn right it won't," Marian said bitterly, adjusting his glasses. He wasn't going to kick Dago out of the Library- No, that would be stupid. Dago already knew too much, and he hadn't done anything worth getting kicked out. And he certainly wasn't going to kill Dago- Again, it really didn't fit the crime. But he was angry, and kind of. . Hurt. It was weird feeling that emotion, and he tried to kick it out, but it just wouldn't leave.
"He called," Marian repeated. ". . And you didn't think of the consequences? Like, what if he accidentally killed himself or someone else with his magic? We don't need any more mages with psychological problems, or any dead mages." This was just so. . So frustrating. Dago even seemed to know he'd messed up, so it wasn't like Marian wanted to bitch him out for it. He could, but he would be preaching to the choir.
Instead, he just sat there, wallowing in it.

Dago nearly forgot how cold Marian could be when he was pissed off. He really hadn’t intended on having that part of him directed at himself; but he had to accept the consequences now that he’d royally fucked up. Had he known that Marian was considering throwing him out, he might have just accepted it and kicked himself for the rest of his existence. He also knew that regardless of Marian’s rules for being Head of the Order, he could kill Dago without any consequences other than having to deal with a corpse. He was a demon now.
“Yes, I did, but when I left, there wasn’t much else I could do. He was already inches away from finding out what I am,” he said, knowing that both Natalie and Marian had asked that he keep that to himself, “I thought he’d call a lot sooner.”
The last part was a terribly weak excuse, because Dago knew what an untrained mage could do involuntarily. He’d lied enough and explained enough to keep Hans from finding anything out, but it was a close call. He had a lot of lost ground to make up now.
