Tobey stood near an alley way. He had a heavier coat on than was necessary for the weather, but he didn’t seem bothered by it. He had his hands shoved into his trench coat pockets, a little bit unnerved about what Hanniel had talked to him about. Tobey was completely unaware of why he was standing here, but Hanniel said it was of dire importance. He really hoped that bastard angel didn’t just send him to his death, he’d just gotten used to being the Horseman Doubt.
Tobey frowned and leaned against the building behind him. There wasn’t any use speculating, but he’d prepare for the worst. If anything, he knew if he survived this, Hanniel would be to blame. He wasn’t sure what Hanniel was up to, did the angel even have any business with anyone but the Order? Tobey didn’t know, but the thought that someone from the Order might have a vendetta crossed his mind… but Hanniel wouldn’t help them with that, would he?

Marian portaled into the alleyway and saw Tobias Archer, aka the Horseman Doubt, standing at the mouth of it. Marian, unlike his immortal friends, had to maintain a 98.6 body temperature and actually wear clothing fit for the weather, so he was wearing a light jacket instead of a freaking trench coat like Tobey.
"Hello, Tobey," Marian said, walking up to the Horseman of the Apocalypse. He didn't know that Tobey hated being called Tobey or that he preferred to be called Doubt, but Hanniel had told him to address Tobey by how Marian knew him as a human, and Tobey was how Marian had known him as a human.
Now, he just had to hope that Tobey didn't run away screaming or try to shoot him or something. Granted, Marian didn't just use willpower magic, but still. He was an aggressive mage, not a passive mage, and he didn't do barriers or any of that.

Tobey pulled away from the building to see who had addressed him in an annoyingly casual manner and nearly jumped out of his skin. He had just been thinking about the Order having a vendetta against him and lo and behold there was one of the witnesses to his father’s death standing right in front of him.
“That fucking angel,” he muttered, stepping backwards, “I’m going to rip off his fucking wings.”
He didn’t immediately correct Marian on calling him Tobey; he was a bit too shocked. He wasn’t going to run away screaming, not unless Marian had come up with a way to kill a Horseman. Tobey wasn’t even sure what he had done different when killing Famine, so he wasn’t sure what to expect. He also hadn’t brought his gun, which he was now regretting.
“What the hell do you want?” he snapped, figuring he could assume Marian wasn’t a threat yet.

Marian resisted the urge to roll his eyes, but he figured he would probably react in a similar way if he were in Tobey's position. He didn't have a vendetta against Tobey or anything, in fact, he was nothing but grateful that Tobey had killed Dimitri. If he hadn't, then Marian wouldn't be the Head of the Order right now.
"Calm down," he said in a low voice, trying to sound reasonable and logical and not like a threat. "I'm just here to talk with you. I'm not mad about what you did; in fact, I'm probably the only person who can understand why you did it." After all, he'd wanted to kill his father for sacrificing him to Mammon. Dimitri had acted just like Jozef Havas in Marian's mind, something that had bothered Marian ever since he had learned of it.
He couldn't even pity Dimitri for his life and afterlife. The man had just made stupid mistakes.

Tobey let his shoulders relax and heard Marian out. His mind was wondering how in the hell Marian got Hanniel to help him find him. He made a mental note to ask, after Tobey found out what in the hell Marian wanted to talk to him about. He frowned a little bit when Marian said he could understand why he had done what he did. Tobey didn’t really know much about Marian, aside from being uncertain about his name and the fact that he had been one of his father’s former students.
He decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, “Fine, where do you want to talk?”
Tobey couldn’t pity his father in the afterlife either, clearly. Tobey knew what he was up against, but obviously didn’t care. He could drown a million times in hell, just so long as he was never in any amount of power ever again.

Marian wanted to say a park because a park was nice and open, but then he remembered all of the horrible experiences he'd had in parks since becoming the head of the Order. Hmmm. He was about to suggest a restaurant before he realized that he'd probably have to eat something.
He'd met Stella at restaurants before and ate things there reluctantly. Speaking of Stella, she'd randomly broken up with him for some reason. Over the phone. Well, whatever.
Marian shrugged. "A park or somewhere else open? Somewhere difficult for people to eavesdrop," he said, going back to the park idea reluctantly. A restaurant was too closed, anyway, and who knew who could overhear them? Marian didn't want to run into any demons who were searching for people in a restaurant. He could kill them easily, but still, that would just cause a mess and the point of this little meeting would be lost.

Tobey wasn’t thinking about demons attacking them, or being poisoned in a restaurant. He couldn’t really die from demons, nor from poison. He had generally calmed his paranoia down from when he was being chased by War. If she had been chasing him now, he might feel similar, but that wasn’t the case.
“Alright. Marian, right?” he agreed, quickly confirming Marian’s name.
He considered correcting Marian for when he called him Tobey, but he supposed he’d let is slide for now, unless Marian pissed him off. He’d already done a pretty good job of disarming any thoughts of harm, he’d let Marian be somewhat familiar.
“Let’s go across the street then,” he said, putting his hands back into his pockets and crossing the street without much thought.
It was a mildly busy street, but Tobey didn’t even bat an eyelash at the oncoming cars. He turned to wait for Marian on the other side of the street.

"Yes, Marian Havas," Marian said, shrugging. He was a bit annoyed that someone working for Upstairs didn't know the name of the current head of the Order. The very important people in Hell tended to know who he was, why couldn't the people on his side know who he was?
Infamy, what a horrible thing.
Marian frowned as Tobey crossed the street, not having to worry about any cars hitting him. Marian couldn't be so lucky, and so he dashed across the street after making sure there was a wide enough gap for him to jaywalk through without having to risk death. It would be sad if he died after just a few years, and sadder if the cause was being hit by a car while jaywalking.
Once Marian got to the other side, he figured it would be best to mention what he wanted. "I've heard you're in possession of a key," he said. "And I was wondering if I could have it. It's very important to me, you see."

Tobey might have known who the next Head of the Order was, but he made a distinct point of not paying attention to that little detail. He didn’t know that Marian had taken over his father’s position. Information was a little bit different for the Horsemen, especially if one of them chose to be ignorant.
Tobey raised his eyebrows when Marian asked for the key. He only kept the damn thing because his father made a big fuss about it when he’d taken it. He wasn’t sure how Marian found out he had that key, if they were talking about the same key. The must be, considering Tobey had one key and knew it was very important.
He scratched his chin thoughtfully for a moment. He wasn’t sure if he should just hand the key over and erase the last tie he had to his father, or ask for something in return. He was silent for a long while.
“I have it, you’re right,” he said, slowly.

Well, that wasn't exactly the answer Marian had been looking for. Oh well, at least Tobey had admitted he had it, which meant that Marian needed to just get it from him, somehow. Marian doubted he could take it by force; Tobey was a freaking Horseman of the Apocalypse and Marian wasn't physically strong in the least bit anyway, even for a human.
"Can I have it, then?" he asked, frowning. "I'll even be willing to pay you for it, if I have anything you'd want. ." If this thing was as important as Dimitri had said it was, then Marian was willing to go to great lengths for it. Humiliating himself for it probably wasn't the best thing ever and Lucifer would undoubtedly bring it up after he died, but if it was as important as Dimitri had said. .
. . Marian really hoped Dimitri hadn't been exaggerating, or he might have wanted to go down to the Envy Circle and kick his predecessor in the ribs himself.
