Lilith put down her knife and fork carefully. She wasn’t sure how to put this. She didn’t want to be rude and be chewing food in the middle of her conversation. She wanted to put this in the most careful possible was, so not to upset Renee. She truly wanted her to stay with her and they could be friends, even. Something that Lilith truly longed for, she often tried to fill the void with other less favorable things in her eyes.
“To be honest, Renee,” she said, “I would truly like you just to… stay here.”
There was something else, but if Renee was going to be her friend, she could forget about it completely if that would make her happy.
“I’m…,” Lilith found herself faltering, “I’m a rather lonely woman,” she admitted, “I think you might be a good friend.”
She had many people in her life, those who loved her for her kindness, those for her body, others were there, too. Much like Samael. Samael never spoke much and if he did, it was only necessary.

Renee gave her a doubtful look. Why would she want her to... Maybe this place was secretly some sort of strange strip club or something. It was Hell, after all; it was unlikely they would have much in the way of laws. If that was the case, she would certainly refuse. She highly doubted it was cannibalism, because then she would probably already be getting eaten.
Besides, she clearly had others around her... that "crow-guy", for example, which made Renee wonder how truthful she was being.
On the other hand, it wasn't as though she had anywhere else to go. In a place like Hell, she didn't know how to survive on her own. She could do that on Earth, but she hadn't seen any stores, or restaurants... or any buildings besides this castle, really. Perhaps it wouldn't be such a bad idea to accept the offer. "...I guess I can."

Lilith frowned. She could feel the mistrust washing over Renee and a little bit of disgust. How strange, she hadn’t meant to make her uncomfortable. She looked into Renee’s eyes, trying to figure out what it was she doubted. Lilith knew that Renee killed, that she resented and was guarded. She could probably even guess why she was that way.
Lilith suddenly felt Renee’s slight sense of abandonment. Lilith felt for the girl, even if she was a cold-blooded murder. She understood, she had done things in her life that she regretted, some she had not. She paid no mind to those who tried to judge her because of it.
“If there is something on your mind,” she began, “Please, tell me.”
She planned on letting Renee know she could feel her emotions without them being said. It wasn’t a body language she spoke, she actually felt waves of emotion wash over her.

Renee felt Lilith looking at her strangely, then saw her trying to look into her eyes. Feeling suddenly self-conscious, she looked away, although she knew Lilith had already seen into them.
Something on her mind. Right, because she was really going to tell someone she barely knew her life's story. Why should she care, anyway? This was the main thing Renee wondered, but she refused to voice the question. It would make her sound pathetic and whiny for her to ask, 'Why do you care about me?' Then again, Lilith barely knew her, either. She had no particular reason at this point to not care. Maybe she was just like that with everyone. It seemed odd and dubious, but she supposed it was a possibility. It made about as much sense, if not more. "No, there's nothing, really," she lied, focusing more on the food than on the conversation. It was the standard response to a question like that, and often a lie. She was aware of this, but there was nothing else to say. Besides, most people usually let it drop at that point.

Renee’s slightly flippant words kind of hurt her. Lilith could see their compatibility, but Renee was refusing to open up. She was more than willing to tell her whatever she wanted as long as Renee volunteered the question. She sighed; she supposed it was the side-effect of her empathy. She could see how things could work between people, including for her; often others just were too stubborn to see it that way. It made her sad when people did it to her; it made her sadder to see people to it to others.
She continued to eat her food as well. She was trying to find a way to make Renee open up a little bit more and not offend her in the process. She was a complicated girl who didn’t need the same things other people did. She disliked free charity and hated pity. Lilith handed both of those things out on a regular basis.
“You’re a capable fighter, aren’t you?” she asked after a long silence.
Perhaps her Lieutenant could get her to loosen up a little bit.

As Renee had predicted, Lilith dropped the matter. She wasn't exactly grateful for it, if only because she refused to be, but she was glad that the woman did not decide to continue to pursue it. Some people didn't take hints, and Renee was glad that she was not one of them.
She knew she wasn't the most perfect of fighters, but she liked to consider herself fairly skilled in that area. Considering that she had never been caught so far, nobody could really say except she and her victims. Since her victims were all dead and unable to speak a word of it, that really left but her as witness, and she never betrayed any of it. This left her somewhat uncertain how to proceed. Her pride refused to allow her to say she was not a capable fighter, but it seemed somehow rather suspicious to say she was. The less attention she drew to such abilities, the better. Instead, she gave a neutral response. "What makes you think that?"

Lilith could sense she made the right choice in dropping the question. It wouldn’t do to be a pest; that was just rude. Lilith realized she was very much making a lot of allowances for this girl; like she did for anyone else she wanted to like her. She frowned a little bit, but kept this to herself.
Renee didn’t do a lot of talking; it made it difficult to converse with her. Lilith usually found herself listening instead of leading the conversation. It was slightly awkward for her, but she thought she did well enough.
“You give me that feeling,” she said simply, “If you think you are, would you like to train with my Lieutenant?”
She knew Natalie was a tough woman, but she had a feeling that Renee would either hate her or like her a whole lot. She hoped for the latter, if it were the former, it would be back to square one for Lilith.

Renee merely nodded, still not wanting to agree or disagree. "Sure, I guess I can train with him," she replied, assuming for whatever reason that the Lieutenant was male. She wasn't so sure how that would go, or how she would disguise the rather tuned skills she currently possessed. Still, she thought that training would probably involve some sparring, which, to her, really meant getting to beat someone up. Well, not very much, and she probably would have to hold back, which meant it wouldn't be nearly as fun. Plus, she would have to stop way before it even got fun. After all, one of the basic things about sparring was that you were not supposed to badly injure your partner. She had never sparred before, but she had a feeling torturing them or anything that would probably lead to death would be against the 'rules'. Not that she ever listened to anyone's rules but her own, but... No, she insisted, it had absolutely nothing to do with the raven haired woman and the sort of impression she would get. Absolutely nothing.

Lilith smiled, “Good, she’ll be happy to have a new… recruit, I suppose.”
Renee certainly had no idea what she was getting in for. Her second-in-command was no a woman to be trifled with. She was indeed a fierce woman; Lilith’s definite foil. Lilith was diplomatic and merciful. Her second-in-command was neither.
Lilith finished up her meal and clapped her hands once Renee was done as well. The dishes began to float away much like they had appeared.
“You may stay in my room, if you wish,” she said, figuring it was the only polite thing to do.
If you had guests, you gave them the best room and the best room Lilith had was her own. She didn’t have guests much and she wasn’t even sure if that was the truth. She stood up from the table and curtseyed to Renee.
“I hope the night finds you well,” she said.

Renee wasn't quite sure how she felt about being referred to as a recruit, especially considering that it was usually used to refer to army members, or similar to being hired. Neither one of those particularly pleased her. She refused to let anyone be so obviously "above" her if she could help it, and she certainly took orders from no one. "Right. Well, we'll see how that goes when I meet her," she replied simply.
She started at the dishes as they floated away. It made just about as much sense as a lot of the other things here, so she wasn't particularly surprised. This did confirm, however, that all these strange things were really happening. Whether it was 'really happening' in a dream, or whether she had gone completely insane, she wasn't sure, but it seemed that it could only logically be one of the two. Mind you, Renee had never been much for logic, but there was a certain point at which even she would say that something was too illogical even for her.
Renee couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow at Lilith's suggestion, however. What exactly was this woman suggesting?! She really wasn't sure how to react to that, so instead she replied, "Um, what?"
