Natalie Fёderova Reznova was sitting down, smoking from a long cigarette holder. She sighed. It had been an interesting day, for certain. She'd eaten today, which was good- She'd heard she had a human to deal with, and it wouldn't do to deal with a human while she was starving. Natalie tried to not become starving; it really wasn't a good state to be in, but sometimes she just got too busy. . In any case, she'd eaten today, and that was what was important.
Now she was sitting, smoking, and waiting for her boss to come in, or for her new recruit to come in. Hopefully the new recruit would be. . Tolerable. If not, then Natalie could easily break down whoever it was. It wasn't hard to, not when you had practiced as long as Natalie had. It was a shame, really, as her boss did try to be nice and loving, but some people, you simply could not control with love and compassion.
And that was why Natalie was Lilith's lieutenant, not someone with more empathy.

Renee walked in, following the directions she had been given by Lilith. It wasn't hard to find, and she had a good sense of direction, so she had no trouble getting there. She saw a woman smoking a cigar, looking almost bored.
She still hadn't completely decided how she was going to handle this. If she really showed what she knew about fighting, it would undoubtedly cause problems. On the other hand, if she acted like she knew less than she really did, she could be perceived as dull or not as good. Her pride refused to allow her to "pretend to suck," so she decided she would just do it. Her skills were almost entirely self-taught. She didn't know much about executing things quickly, because of her tendency to draw it out. Her practice and lessons were always out in the real world, doing what she thought she did best.

Natalie looked up as Renee walked inside and exhaled, smoke drifting out of her mouth and into the air. Smoking was good breathing practice, was Natalie's excuse. Despite being dead, to speak, one still had to be able to take air in and out of one's lungs. No one could accuse Natalie of not being current with science, at least.
She observed the human. Unlike Lilith, she wasn't an empath, and so any conclusions would be entirely logic and reason based. Also unlike Lilith, Natalie enjoyed logic and reason and frequently employed them. Things were logical and knowing why sky turned red and orange and purple as the sun set didn't make it any less beautiful (even if Natalie hadn't learned why the setting sun made such colours until far after she had seen her last).
Natalie stood up from where she was sitting and walked towards Renee. "So, you're the new recruit?" she asked. Her voice had a slight Eastern European accent to it.

Renee watched the woman, who happened to be almost inspecting her, it seemed. The smell of the smoke did not bother her. Although she had never been a very regular smoker, she had tried it a couple of times, and her mom probably went through at least a pack of them a day, back when she had lived with her.
She nodded, a little flippantly, as though to say right off the bat that she was no one's lackey or anything of the sort. "Lilith thought it would be good for us to train together. Dunno why." That was nothing new, though. She didn't understand at all most of the things that Lilith did. Of course, that absolutely did not stop her from continuously trying to figure it out, if only for fear of ending up in a foolish situation she should have noticed and avoided long before it happened, and had merely been blinded by her "ridiculous feelings."

Natalie hadn't always smoked. It wasn't until the late 19th or early 20th century she'd picked the hobby up. She didn't remember. The years liked to mesh together sometimes, and so sometimes she had some trouble differentiating two uneventful years that were next to each other. Of course, once she had a calendar of the years she'd remember.
Well, she could remember one eventful year: 1986. That had even affected hell.
"I see," Natalie said, taking another breath full of tobacco. It hadn't been around that long, she supposed. Cigarettes in Europe- Well, France and East, at least- Were younger than her! "I assume she meant helping you defend yourself, then?" Natalie said 'defend yourself' a little sarcastically. Well, then that meant fighting and perhaps some basic magic. Natalie couldn't use magic, aside from the abilities that came with her by nature. She found herself wondering if this girl had broken her seal.
Hmm. Maybe she shouldn't keep referring to her as 'this girl.' "What's your name?" she asked.

Renee raised an eyebrow. Defend herself? As though she didn't already know how to do that? Really, no matter how tough an opponent, she had never had any problem kicking their ass before and even having a little fun while she was at it, so she didn't see defense as an issue. She would much rather learn... Well, actually, she had no idea what she wanted to learn. What did she not already know much about? Nothing in particular came to mind. She saw herself as already being a skilled fighter, and she wasn't completely sure that this woman would be able to teach her more than years of experience already had. Because of this, she decided to just go with it, even if it was something repetitive.
"I'm Renee," she replied, not giving her surname. It seemed stupid. Why should she continue to use that, given to her by her parents?

Didn't use a surname, then? Hmm, interesting. "Natalie Fёderova Reznova," Natalie responded. The name didn't mean much now, she supposed, not as much as it had meant a couple hundred years ago. But it was still enough to hook people. She blinked a few times. No, no, she wasn't supposed to be plotting that sort of thing right now. Still, though, it happened subconsciously, even if she wasn't hungry.
Natalie walked back to where she was sitting, took the cigarette out of her cigarette holder, and put it out. She set the cigarette holder down on an end table next to the seat upon which she had sat. She turned back to Renee. "I suppose we should find a room to train in, then. Someone might be upset if we shred this one up." She made a gesture for Renee to follow her, and began walking towards somewhere she knew the two of them could fight in peace.

Renee didn't think much of the name. From her perspective, it was 'Natalie a bunch of random syllables she was never going to remember'. She said nothing of it, figuring it wasn't really even that important.
"Alright," was her simple reply. Most people would probably be scared after hearing the indication that, if they trained in there, the room would get destroyed. Renee on the other hand wondered if this might be at least a little bit interesting after all. Probably not exactly interesting, but at the very least, maybe she could refine a few of her skills. For example, she had a tendency to stab deeper than she meant to, which shortened her fun a lot. It was one of those things she wanted to work on, but when she got caught up in things, she tended to forget to be cautious. Also, maybe she could learn something like how to shoot a gun. She was pretty sure she could figure it out, but some practice would be nice.

Alright. A simple answer. Natalie almost smiled. At least she wouldn't have to be worried about some scared human. Maybe a prideful one, but not a scared one. Oh well, pride goeth before a fall, that was the same old saying, and Natalie already knew who would win this fight. There was no question about it. After all, Renee didn't know any of her weaknesses.
Natalie had once used some very different syllables, but she found them non-applicable to her now. Besides, she preferred how Reznova sounded to Shcherbatskaya. The latter was awkward sounding and looking, especially when transcribed to the Latin alphabet.
Finally, they came across a fairly empty room. Natalie opened the door for Renee and waited for her to walk in. Might as well- It was only polite. Even if she was going to kick this human girl's ass, that did not mean she could not be polite about it.

Renee gave Natalie a 'look' as though to insist silently that she could have opened the door for herself just fine, thank you very much, and did not need somebody to hold it open for her. She had used a certain trick a couple of times in the past, as well. When a person went through a door, unless they were being super careful, their back was to you. They were wide open. She didn't trust this woman, so she made a point of turning so she never left herself open like that.
She saw a few things in the room out of her peripheral vision, but for the most part the room was clear of things that could get damaged. She couldn't make out what they were, for the most part, because she was much more focused on Lilith's lieutenant. Come to think of it, she wondered if that meant Lilith was a captain, and of what?
