Vera stopped in her tracks when Felix started talking. She angrily shut her violin case with a snap, but she continued to listen.
“Oh, go tell it to Swee—Wait, you ain’t pullin’ my leg are you,” she said with some thought.
She huffed and set her case down, fumbling around in her cleavage for a pack of cigarettes and a book of matches. She was angry and this was going to be the best way to calm her down so she could use her limited source of braincells.
“Well ain’t that just unreal,” she muttered, affixing a cigarette to her holder and lighting it, “If that broad bumped him off, she should be downtown by now! I ain’t that much a dumb Dora; thems the breaks, no matter who’s got static with it. Gotta be more slippery than a torpedo.”
It was surprisingly clear commentary from someone who was not too long ago convinced she was going to kill everyone in the room they previously occupied.

Mr. Cassius fumbled with his cigar case as well, and quickly cut one and began smoking right where they were standing. Fuck, he needed some tobacco right after that mess. "No, I ain't pullin' your leg," he answered, rolling his eyes. "You really think those mooks woulda stood by Marian's little loverboy if the boss was still in charge?" He took a puff from his cigar and stayed quiet for a moment, thinking.
"Then the quiff didn't bump him off, a' course," Felix said after his pause. "Dunno what she did, but he's still gotta be out there if she ain't been pinched. Even if she's the damn Queen of Sheba around here, there's no way the big boss woulda let her run around like this if she really did kill the boss, whether he's stuck on her or not." He took another puff from his cigar.
"We gotta find the boss, 'cause ya know what? He'll come back, and if he finds out we're just sittin' pretty. . Well, it won't be all Jake, if ya know what I mean."

Vera didn’t reply; she thought about it now but gun in hand and a wall of meat in front of her didn’t really leave room for those ‘limited brain cells’ to knock around a bit. At least they had gotten out of there before the ‘new’ boss showed up; they would’ve been in for it then. She couldn’t remember if they could outright disobey the King of Pride, no matter who it was; she didn’t really want to find out before, she figured neither did Felix.
She nodded, feigning being thoughtful, “Yeah, long live the king, huh?” she joked a bit somberly, “Thinkin’ about what the boss would do if he found us sitting on our thumbs gives me a case of the screaming meemies.”
She shuddered to prove her point, “Got a plan percolatin’?” she asked, looking over at her partner, “Don’t suppose that old fruit the big boss knows where to find him either.”

Felix nodded, exhaling more smoke. Disobeying the boss was always a bad idea. With Lucifer, it usually meant being killed. Him and Vera had always been on their best behavior when it came to the boss, and even then, he still got angry. Thankfully, they knew when to stay away from him when he was extremely angry, but it didn't mean that Lucifer didn't sometimes use them to take out his frustration.
In any case, based off of their track record and the boss' track record, Mr. Cassius had a feeling that the new "boss" wouldn't be so kind to them. He didn't really consider Lilith their boss, if only because of his hunch that Lucifer was still alive. And as long as Lucifer was still alive. . Well, Mr. Cassius had brains, and he knew that disobeying Lucifer was one of the stupidest things he or Ms. Ripley could do.
"Well," Mr. Cassius began, "We gotta find him somehow, don't we? I dunno where he'd be, though, or what the quiff did with him."

Vera tapped the ash off of her cigarette, throwing her arm around her waist in a spoiled-child-like gesture. She didn’t suppose the ‘new’ boss would be so kind to them either; she might in fact try to make their lives even more of a living hell, if one excuses the pun. Even if Lucifer had used them as a punching bag now and again, Vera had a hunch it was going to be a day of rainbows and sunshine compared to whatever Lilith could do to them. They got to see what the boss did to people he liked; they wouldn’t have that luxury with someone new.
“You’re the one with the matter in the noggin, not me,” Vera said, a bit snidely, “If you ain’t gotta plan, we’re sittin’ ducks.”
She didn’t know where to start or who to ask. It was unlikely the two of them would be able to talk to the ‘big boss’ especially on a matter like this.

Mr. Cassius buried his head in his hands and tried to think. He had to come up with something. If he didn't, then they'd both be dead. Torn apart by the boss when he came back to life. He shook his head. No no no, he wasn't going to go out that way, killed because his boss found him too stupid to keep around. Alright, he had to think of a way. What would he do if he were Lilith? Mr. Cassius mused.
Well. First he'd try to seduce Lucifer. That was the best way to make him weakest. Just appeal to his Pride and to his Lust. Then he would have to do something that would keep Lucifer unable to use magic. An anti-magic seal, but he'd have to do something that would keep Lucifer from being able to get rid of it.
Hmm. And that was where he was stuck. Well, there was one thing Felix knew: If Lucifer was anywhere, he was up on the surface most likely. If he was going to hide Lucifer away, that was where he would put him.
