Marian tried to figure out what the hell the potion did, but then decided it was better if he didn't think about it, just in case Lucifer had given him a date rape drug or something oh god what if he had. Marian shook his head, trying to get rid of that thought. He had to go find someone. He didn't like how Lucifer used the word 'scapegoat', though. It was worrying.
Marian checked his watch, which was set to Eastern Standard Time. Good, it was nighttime, and there were plenty of hours left that would be filled with darkness. That was important, very important.
He sighed and left his office, and headed towards the room Dago had been staying in since Marian had gotten mad at him about Hans. Well, if they survived, then Marian would be more than glad to forgive him. He knocked on the door, trying to be patient as he waited for an answer. He was panicking inside; he really didn't know what the hell Lucifer was going to make him do but he was freaked out about it.

In the background of Marian’s head, there was some wild speculation on who he was going to pick as a victim. Lucifer was chatting with Vera and Felix about what strategy Marian would choose: if he’d willingly sacrifice someone he didn’t care for or if he would pick someone who could possibly last.
Dago opened up his door, not expecting anyone to have paid attention to where he was sleeping now. He blinked blurrily at Marian a couple of times. He had been sleeping, but it was about the time he’d wake up.
“Oh, Marian,” he said a bit surprised, “Uh… what do you need?”
Dago still felt horrible about the whole business with Hans. He didn’t think Marian was here to say he was forgiven; that didn’t seem like Marian. Dago shuffled a little bit; kind of worried he’d maybe fucked something else up.
Meanwhile in Marian’s head, there was some shuffling and quick conversation. There were sounds of papers moving and books being opened and closed.

Marian had gone with the latter option- Someone he knew could last. Dago, he knew, was a vampire, and he could handle whatever Lucifer threw at them. He'd managed to help a lot when they were rescuing Gisella and getting rid of Marian's father, after all. Hopefully Lucifer didn't have any information on Dago- That wouldn't be very good. Still, though, even if he did, it was comforting to know that he had Dago on his side.
"I. . I need your help with something," Marian said, frowning. "I can't tell you what it is, but it's really important. ." He figured he might as well be honest with Dago, especially considering he'd been angry with Dago for not being honest with him. Once this was all over, he might even decide to explain it all.
"We have to go to New York," Marian continued. He wasn't sure why New York, but whatever. He just had to get the damn seal off of him.

Apparently, Lucifer did not have any information on Dago; the shuffling paper noises continued for a bit.
“Marian,” came a stern Lucifer, “Who is that? Work it into conversation, I don’t care. Who is that?”
“Yeah,” Dago said, almost too quickly, “Let me get dressed and I’ll come with you.”
Dago was relieved to see that Marian didn’t see him as a useless little shit for whatever he needed to do. He was beginning to think coming back to the Order was a shitty idea, but now he had a chance to make up for it.
“Marian, tell me who that is,” Lucifer’s voice came again as Dago disappeared into the room to find some clean clothes.
The noise of paper continued for awhile longer and finally stopped completely. Lucifer did all in his power to make Marian feel like he was being watched, even more than he already was.

"Thanks, Dago," Marian said, relieved, trying to figure out what the hell Lucifer wanted him to do. It was Dago, obviously- Lucifer had once tried to freak Marian out with information on him. Well, whatever. He grinned. It was nice to have something on Lucifer and his cronies for once, as it was usually the other way around.
After Dago disappeared into his room, Marian muttered under his breath, "It's Dago Vivar. Passive mage." It wasn't a lie; Dago had been a passive mage while he was alive, and besides, Lucifer hadn't told him he had to have a human as his help for this- Not that Lucifer knew that Dago was a vampire, obviously.
Marian was suddenly very, very grateful to whomever this Lilith woman was for bringing Dago back and giving him his new powers.
He continued to grin, obviously pleased with himself for his choice. Lucifer didn't sound happy, and even though that would normally worry Marian, he was just happy that Lucifer's "prize" wasn't turning out as well as the Lord of Sin had thought it would.

There was some uncharacteristic silence behind the tie pin. Then there was a sound like someone was running away and quickly returning.
“Don’t lie, Marian,” came Lucifer’s cool voice, “The man you mentioned has been dead for over a year now.”
There was some more silence and some hushed whispering, “I’ll let your non-human friend pass, but don’t lie again.”
Lucifer didn’t know that Dago was a vampire. Lilith made a point of keeping her people separate from the normal records of hell. There was likely a record of Dago’s death, but nothing about his sentence or where he’d be in Hell.
Dago reappeared in the doorway, much better dressed now. He gave Marian a bit of a strange look. Marian had gone from looking pained and worried to looking downright smug. That was some flip in all of three minutes.
“Let’s go,” he said, a little bit confused.

"I'm not lying," Marian muttered under his breath again. "It's really him." He shrugged when Lucifer told him not to lie again. The sound of ruffling papers. . And the fact that Lucifer didn't think Dago was human and knew he'd died. . Well, then. Hell had records on everyone? That was a scary thought, but Marian wasn't surprised. It explained a lot.
It was strangely funny how Lucifer thought Dago wasn't human just because he couldn't find any information on him, but that was to be expected from someone as prideful as Lucifer.
"Alright," Marian said, nodding at Dago. He walked down to the portal hall, and tried to figure out where to go. Well, Lucifer had said it didn't matter where in New York, so he set it for the Upper East Side. He remembered that Dago had come into his office with a portal tag; hopefully, Dago still had that portal tag so they could get back to the Library.
Oh well, at least Marian knew where all of the emergency portals were.

Lucifer was pretty pissed off that he could only find a record of a death date and where Dago had been sentenced. His assumption that Dago wasn’t human was the conclusion he drew, but he didn’t know how or why. It made him down right grumpy.
Dago followed behind Marian, figuring something strange was going on. He’d stuck with Marian through a lot of other really strange things, so this was no different. He just wasn’t sure what was going on. He did have the portal tag on him. He carried it with him; he figured it had a much lower chance of getting stolen if it was with him at all times.
There was that time Selene was a bitch and switched their bodies. He learned more than he wanted to know about law that day. He carefully looked into the portal before he walked through it to make sure it was nighttime; he’d forgotten to ask.
“You’re going to go to Central Park West,” Lucifer began to speak again, “You’re going to bring me a little present from the Museum of Natural History.”

Well, Marian thought, it was a good thing they're landed near 59th street, so they weren't too far from Central Park. He frowned when Lucifer mentioned that they had to get something from the Museum of Natural History. He wasn't against stealing from the museum, but it would be hard. Oh well, he was a mage and he had a vampire with him- Hopefully that would be enough.
"We're going to the Museum of Natural History," Marian informed Dago. He had no idea what they were going to steal yet, so he'd wait until Lucifer told him. He had a bad feeling about this entire thing, but then again, he'd had a bad feeling ever since he'd gotten that note from Lucifer. This was all really sketchy, and Marian didn't like it at all.
The initial happiness of one-upping Lucifer was wearing off and he realized pissing off Lucifer might lead to some really bad things, and he was trying not to panic.

Dago nodded, though he had no idea why they were going to a museum late at night. He was drawing a lot of assumptions, but didn’t voice any of them. Marian looked like he was in trouble or something was bothering him; Dago was going to wait for an explanation before he assumed something.
“You’re going to bring me… oh, I don’t know,” pondered Lucifer, “You’re going to bring me something shiny; one of those rocks mortals seem to prize. One of the white ones.”
Lucifer didn’t know what Dago could do quite yet, so his anger was wearing off, too. He was falling back into the fun of making Marian do his bidding. It wasn’t as though Lucifer was making Marian take out his dry cleaning, this was part of a bigger plan.
“I don’t really care how you do it, but I suggest you stay out of sight. Being a jewel thief doesn’t really look good,” suggested Lucifer.
