Marian sighed. He really didn't want to get arrested; then his location would be privy to Lucifer unless he managed to escape jail- And then the cops would be after him. His money and reputation were at risk here, not just his location. Shit shit shit. Alright, him and Dago had to make sure to do a good job of this. He didn't want any of the newspapers to have headlines about how Marian Havas had gone and attempted to steal from the Museum of Natural History.
"We have to steal a moonstone," Marian said to Dago, his voice giving away some of his anxiety about it. "I can't tell you why, but we have to do it. It's very important." Moonstone was the first white gemstone he could think of, and he knew that the Museum of Natural History would have one.
He glanced at Dago. "Any ideas how we'll get in?" he asked. The Museum would be closed right now.

Dago stared blankly at Marian for a moment before he realized he was serious. Here they were, in New York, heading toward a museum, there was only one logical answer. Marian was being deadly serious. He opened his mouth to ask why in the hell, but he quickly shut it again.
“I’m positive you’ve already thought about the consequences,” said Dago slowly.
He raked his hand through his hair, “Let me do it.”
He wasn’t sure if they both had to do it, but Marian had a lot more of a reputation on the line. Dago would simply be known as a former med student; Marian was already an attorney from a powerful family. Dago was not; if he got arrested, it’d be a lot less of a scandal. Aside from the fact that Dago was cold, fast, and strong; much more so when compared to Marian.
“If I can that is,” Dago said looking at Marian for approval.
“What a well trained dog you have,” taunted Lucifer, “Your choice.”

"Yes, I know the consequences," Marian said. God, he did, and he wished he didn't have to do this. Having to do whatever Lucifer said was the worst thing that could happen to him, aside from dying. Still, though, they had to do it.
He blinked in shock when Dago volunteered to do it. From a purely objective standpoint, it would be best to let Dago do it himself- The stakes for Dago were much lower. Still, though, he almost felt sort of bad. He'd been angry at Dago, and here Dago was offering to do something highly dangerous and risky without even knowing why. Marian gulped. Fucking Lucifer, this was all his fault.
"You can do it, if you want," Marian said, a little bit shaky, especially after Lucifer made his comment about what a 'well-trained dog' Dago was. His urge to somehow go down to Hell and break Lucifer's nose was rising, but he knew he couldn't do that.

Dago frowned when Marian said he could go do it if he wanted. He was starting to worry about him, but Marian already said he couldn’t say what was going on. He really didn’t want Marian to go on being pissed off at him after making a bone-headed mistake, so if he had to put his neck on the line, he would. He didn’t know why, but he knew by the way Marian was acting that it was necessary.
“Alright, I won’t take long,” he said, turning to leave, “Half an hour, at most.”
He hoped this would take fifteen minutes, but he hadn’t ever been inside the museum. He jogged off in the direction of the museum before disappearing.
After a few moments, there was some impatient shuffling in Marian’s head.
“He thinks he can get it in a half hour?” came a voice, “That’s damn confident.”
There was a tapping noise. Lucifer was contemplating asking Marian why he picked who he did, but it was becoming increasingly obvious. Lucifer’s ire over letting Marian some help he didn’t know about was returning.
“When he gets back, you’re going to take it to a friend of mine,” Lucifer said, impatient.
Dago came charging back several minutes later. He paused for a moment and pulled something out of his pocket. He showed Marian a pearly-white stone about half the size of his palm.
“The sign said moonstone, it’s this right?” he said, sounding rushed.

Marian was relieved that he'd chosen Dago to be his help and that he'd been allowed to have help in the first place. He had no idea how he would've stolen it himself. He nodded when Dago got the moonstone out of his pocket. That was what moonstone looked like, right? Oh well, it didn't matter- It was white, and that was what Lucifer had wanted. He took it out of Dago's hand and put it in the inside pocket of his jacket.
"Thank you," he said quietly to Dago, and meant it. Again, he was really glad he had chosen Dago.
He waited for Lucifer to tell him where to go next. He knew he had to give it to someone, but he wasn't sure who. The fact that it was a friend of Lucifer's was kind of creepy, though- The types of people who would be friends with Lucifer, Marian imagined, would be.

Dago smiled a little bit, “Yeah,” he said, though he stayed quiet for some unknown reason.
He quickly got serious, “I don’t think I tripped any alarms, but I ran into the maintenance staff. We should probably get the hell out of here.”
There was a long strain of silence on Lucifer’s end. Someone that wasn’t Lucifer quickly gave an address.
Lucifer took over again, “Go there, open the door. Don’t knock, it will be open.”
The address was about a half mile from where they were. Lucifer paused a moment to wait for them to get moving.
“When you get there, you’ll give that stone to the first person you see and ask for transportation. They’ll ask you where you’re going and you’re going to tell them that it’s a very private matter. Exactly like that, ‘It’s a very private matter,’ Did you get that?” Lucifer instructed quickly.

"Yes," Marian said, acting like he was talking to Dago but really answering Lucifer. "We'll leave now, then." Oh god, transportation? That was worrying, really worrying. Especially because he had no idea what that potion had done. . He didn't feel good about this at all, especially because this was all sounding like some horrible spy thing or drug dealing case.
Marian really hoped that these guys weren't anyone he had prosecuted in the past. He'd been a lawyer for a few years, after all, before leaving to become the Head of the Order.
He began walking in the direction that Lucifer had sent him to go, grateful that growing up in Manhattan meant that he knew the streets and addresses pretty well, especially considering it was nighttime and they were near central park. Oh well, Marian and Dago could handle normal thugs, but Marian doubted Lucifer would remove the seal if they beat up his 'friends.'

Dago began to follow Marian, he didn’t figure that was the last thing they needed to do.
The building they approached was a pretty nondescript shop that looked as though it was selling smoking paraphernalia and new age medicinal alternatives. It had a lot of neon lights out front that said things like ‘Smoke Shop’ and ‘HOOKAH’ among other things. It was sandwiched between an office building and a questionable looking restaurant that didn’t make itself immediately obvious what they served.
Inside, there was a voluptuous middle-aged woman sitting on a high stool behind a counter filled with various metal rings and pipes. She didn’t look up when anyone entered the shop; she was busily reading a magazine that she held beneath the counter out of sight. She had long brown, unbrushed hair and wore something akin to a cheap kimono robe in a fluorescent pink.

Marian walked inside of the smoke shop and saw the middle-aged woman sitting behind the counter. That was her, then, he thought. Well, at least she didn't look familiar or anything, so she wasn't someone who wanted him dead. That was good. He recalled that Lucifer wouldn't send him to his death or anything, although he wasn't exactly sure about that. With Lucifer, one never really knew.
He walked up to the counter and placed the moonstone in front of her. "We need transportation," he said, somehow managing to keep his voice level and calm and confident. It was all an act, of course, he was really nervous as fuck, but he might as well not let this pawn of Lucifer's see that. He didn't exactly want to hear more laughter come from the tie pin at his expense.
Marian tried to keep his mind off of that damn potion, but it was hard to. What had been in there, and when would it take effect? Or had it already? What the hell was Lucifer's plan?

The woman looked up at Marian when she placed the moonstone in front of her. She didn’t even look at it, she just palmed it and it disappeared. Her eyes flicked from Marian to Dago and then back again. She closed her magazine and stashed it under the counter. Her eyes were an odd red color and if one looked, it was clear they weren’t contacts. Her eyes were bloodshot and she looked extremely tired, as well.
She propped her elbows up on the table and laced her fingers together under her chin, “Where is it you’d like to go?” her voice was low and raspy.
As she spoke, she was running her eyes down Marian and then switched to Dago. She didn’t look like she was sexually interested; she looked more like she was assessing a literal piece of meat, or something of monetary value.
Lucifer was silent, for now.
