Selene tried to struggled, kicking her bound together legs and rolling as violently as she could. She finally curled up in a ball, seemingly exhausted. Dago moved away from the sofa when Marian asked him to go get Mischa.
“Sure, she’s the serious one with the braid, right?” he asked, not waiting for an answer.
Selene growled in Marian’s direction, but still stayed docile. Her eyes were darting in all different directions, trying to figure a way out or something. It was unclear what was going on behind her wild eyes.
Dago came back and opened the door, letting Mischa in before him. Her hair was wet and she was in the middle of braiding her really long hair.
“I apologize,” she said, meaning her not-quite-ready state, “Did you call for me?”
She then noticed Selene, bound and laying on Marian’s couch. Her eyes widened and she glanced behind her at Dago and then back to Marian.

Marian was about to say yes, but Dago was already out the door. Oh well, he'd gotten it right anyway. Marian frowned as he watched Selene writhe, and he almost felt sorry for her. Almost. Well, hopefully Mischa wasn't guilty of gluttony, but Marian didn't think she seemed like she was. As far as he knew, she didn't eat excessively, but then again, he had his own kitchen out of fear of someone poisoning his food.
Incidentally, that fear had stemmed from the writhing woman on the couch lacing his food with acid.
Marian looked up when Mischa came in. "Yes, I did. I believe this woman has been possessed by an Insect of Possession. She almost ate one of my students," he said bluntly. "She's acting very different than normal, anyway. She isn't usually. . Well, she doesn't usually act like a starving wolf, and tends to act like, you know, a normal person."

Thankfully, Mischa really wasn’t guilty of gluttony. If asked, she would feign ignorance of her own sin. She wasn’t about to advertise her weaknesses, that was foolish. Mischa crossed her arm under her chest and tapped her lips.
“I see,” she said, “You want me to exorcise her, right?”
Mischa honestly had no prior knowledge of Selene’s behavior, but she wasn’t acting like she had assumed she might act. The only think Mischa knew about Selene was that she was some science-y shut-in who Yasuo seemed to know and be seriously intimidated by.
Mischa had seen victims of the Insects of Possession before and had taken the measures to cure them. It was as simple as a spell tag and killing the bug when it left the host body. She didn’t anticipate any problems with either part of that. Had she known about the Moreaus' susceptibility to possession, she might have suggested a protective seal, too.

Marian nodded. Mischa had mentioned dealing with victims of possession while telling Marian about what had happened with Noah, so he assumed that she could exorcise Selene. He certainly wasn't going to tell anyone that Selene was susceptible to possession- He was too paranoid to allow someone to learn Selene's Achilles Heel, so to speak. She was their mad scientist and had been for years, and he wasn't about to lose their mad scientist, as unbearable as she could be at times.
Definitely not about to lose Selene. Besides, as far as he knew, she'd stopped experimenting on mages.
So, because of Marian's paranoia, he didn't know that she should have a protective seal, but not telling Mischa and not letting anyone else know of the Moreau's predicament was the most important thing to him right now. He certainly didn't want Lucifer to find out about that, either. At least Beelzebub just wanted to eat him.

Mischa assumed that’s what was going on, remembering the conversation she had with Marian. She walked over to Marian’s desk and picked up a piece of paper. Thankfully any paper would do, so she grabbed a pen and started to scribble some complicated symbols on the paper. It took her several minutes to finish the tag and she started to rip the paper in to careful rectangles.
“This should be simple,” Mischa said, moving over to kneel down next to the couch Selene had been set upon.
She pressed the spell tag onto Selene’s forehead, who tried to wriggle away from Mischa’s hands. Selene immediately arched her back and screamed something horrible. Mischa did her best to hold down Selene with her other hand, but the woman was squirming and bucking as hard as she could. Dago moved over and tried to help hold down her shoulders.
“The bug’s going to come out, any second,” Mischa cried, “Kill it if you see it!”
Selene wailed and bucked again, but quickly quieted down and seemed to have lost consciousness. There was a faint buzzing noise and all of a sudden, a fly flew out of her ear.

Marian paid close attention to what Mischa was doing. He'd have to ask her how to do that someday- He'd have to know how to after she died, and he'd have to show his successor and his students how to do it as well. He wasn't planning on dying, but still, Haven Havergal hadn't exactly planned on dying, either.
Marian really hoped Leviathan wouldn't show up at the Library and kill him like he had Haven. That just didn't sound fun. Unbeknownst to Marian, Leviathan had been partially responsible for the death of his predecessor as well as Haven. At least two Heads of the Order, not exactly a good track record.
Magnus Maior Maximus Necto Bestia, he thought, sending his will towards the Insect of Possession to control it. He didn't have the time to hiss out the words. Once the demon was under his command, he muttered "Peractio."
Great. So he had to worry about Beelzebub now, too. Marian just had horrible experiences with Lords of Sin. Mammon had tried to take his soul, Lucifer considered him his toy, and Beelzebub had tried to eat him.

Mischa would be glad to run over the symbols with Marian. She was partly afraid that everything the Chao Xi had accomplished in demon hunting would be lost forever. Now that she was using it, she had a little bit of comfort.
Once the fly was obliterated, Mischa pulled the tag off of Selene’s forehead. She stood up and brushed off the knees on her pants.
“Well, there are more tags, just in case this happens again,” she said, “If you want, I can teach you how to make more.”
Selene was still passed out on the couch. Mischa didn’t make a move to remove the wire binding her; that was up to Marian’s digression. She had to imagine that was painful, but she tried to eat someone, and that someone subdued her in the only way possible, she assumed.
“Did you need my assistance with anything else?” she asked, arranging the spell tags and setting them on Marian’s desk.

"Please do," Marian said. "Thank you." Good, she'd anticipated it as well. If Marian had been in the market for a successor, he would have chosen Mischa, but it was a couple hundred years too early for that. Marian was not going to die any time soon. He couldn't, and that was a fact. It was like Haven's affirmation that she could not return to the pride circle.
"Is it safe to untie her yet?" Marian asked, glancing down at Selene. She was still bound with the wire, which Marian figured Madeleine had made in a rush. Well, he was certainly glad his student was doing well. She'd been here two years, though, so it was expected that she would be doing well. After all, by the time he had been at the Order for a few years, he had progressed rather fast.
Marian was already 31. Time was flying, really. 31 and Head of the Order for three years. Not bad, he thought. Not bad at all.

“Of course,” Mischa said, crossing her arms, “I’ll get back to you when things have settled down.”
She wasn’t aware that the Order couldn’t exorcise demons, but she was glad to help where she could. She also wasn’t aware that Marian thought so highly of her, but would be proud to know.
“Yes, she should be fine now, but she might not remember anything,” Mischa said, “Once she’s awake, you should find out where it’s likely she got infected, just in case she hadn’t left.”
Mischa assumed that Marian could have figured that out himself, but just wanted to reinforce the idea. She wasn’t aware of where Selene was from or where she might have picked up a demon, but it was important to find out it wasn’t around here.
Selene started to stir and her eyes fluttered open. She blinked a couple of times before she realized where she was. She looked up at Mischa, Marian, and Dago in that order.
“What in the hell is going on?” she mumbled.

Marian nodded and cut the wires using his magic. Selene would be free to move around again now. He was pretty glad that the Chao Xi Temple had burned down- After all, if that hadn't happened, then he'd be stuck with a possessed Selene who was trying to eat everyone, and that just wasn't a good thing.
Oh, good, Selene had woken up now. "You were possessed by an Insect of Possession, but we got it out and killed it," Marian explained. "You tried to eat Madeleine, too. How do you feel now?" Well, she seemed tired. Marian was suddenly very glad his family wasn't prone to possession or anything like that. He didn't want to end up having to do the whims of whatever demon found its way inside of him.
Jenkins going into him through his scar was bad enough, but at least Jenkins hadn't been able to influence him in any way.
