Dago knew all about what was going on in Arizona, too. Thankfully, it wasn’t ever high on his list of places to revisit, so there weren’t any problems.
Dago almost smiled broader when he realized that Hakan was a talker. That made finding out things much easier; he almost half expected a challenge. He didn’t smile bigger, for fear he’d look like a wolf hunting a sheep. Considering what Dago was, Hakan simply being full of blood made him a sheep.
“That sounds convenient,” he said, talking about his job, “I bet you’ve been around, then.”
The last part wasn’t meant to be an innuendo; if it was, it would have been an assumption, which was something Dago knew to avoid.
He was thinking about his own job prospects. It was pretty hard to go looking for residencies at night, though they were pretty slow. Most important people didn’t come in at night. He did have a potential place in Vera Cruz, though…

Hakan missed the innuendo that Dago had accidentally made. Some things got lost in translation, after all, and innuendo did a lot. Hakan didn't know that Dago had trouble understanding sarcasm, but if he had and if he had understood the innuendo, he would have thought it funny how Dago didn't get sarcasm but could easily make innuendo like that.
But enough lampshading.
Hakan shrugged. "Not really," he admitted. "I've mostly been around Europe. I went to England once once, that was. . An experience." He'd been to Russia before, too. Russia was a weird place, full of corruption and gangsters and American cars and clothing. He'd been to Turkey as well, but he counted that as Europe, and he counted Russia as Europe too. The only reason England was different was because it was a little island and it wasn't on the continent. It was the same with Iceland and Greenland, although wasn't Greenland technically part of North America?
Hakan had no clue.
"What about you?" he asked, curious as to what Dago did for a living.

To Dago, innuendo was different than sarcasm. If someone was making a sarcastic innuendo, it’d be a tossup if he’d get it or not. It usually just made it so he saw things in conversations that weren’t always there, but they were always sexual. Anything else was completely lost.
Dago grinned when Hakan said it was an experience going to England. He hadn’t ever paid attention to where he was when feeding. The only time he really knew he was in Europe was when he’d run into the hapless Hans; mostly because it was seriously a bitch to get out of due to the shitton of water. Thankfully, he’d run into the Seidhrfolk before he had to take a plane to New York.
“Experience? That bad?” he asked, “I finished a medical degree awhile ago, but I haven’t done anything with it yet. Haven’t… ah… had the time yet.”
That was an understatement,

Hakan laughed nervously and shook his head. "It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't taken the wrong train and gotten lost. ." he admitted. Yes, that hadn't been a very fun trip at all. Well, at least it had been an adventure, and in retrospect, it was kind of funny. Too bad he'd totally missed the protest he was going to write about and had to watch videos on the internet to see what had happened.
He raised his eyebrows when Dago said he didn't have the time to do anything with his medical degree. "Really?" he asked. "Too much Order stuff, then?" He didn't really see Dago doing much of anything, but in all honesty, Hakan didn't really see Dago very much. For all Hakan knew, Dago was working on some top-secret project or something! He regretted asking, but it was too late now.
Besides, even if Dago was working on some top-secret project, he'd just lie about it.

Dago nodded, “Yeah, portals make things much easier, right?”
He didn’t have the best sense of direction, but now that he had a portal tag, he wouldn’t get lost ever. He imagined that being a journalist with the portal machines made things much, much simpler.
Dago scratched the back of his head, “Yeah, something like that. I’ve been looking for something lately, so that won’t last long.”
If ‘learning how to be a vampire without killing anyone or oneself’ counted as super secret Order business, that would have been true. Unfortunately, Dago didn’t count it like that, and he was pretty sure no one else did either. Time to shift away from that topic, that wasn’t something that needed to be discussed much further.
“You’re friends with Yasuo, right?” he asked, quickly picking up the first subject he thought of, “That chamaco talks a lot, sometimes about you.”

Hakan nodded quickly. "Yeah, it does!" he said, grinning. "And this way I don't have to worry about taking the wrong train and ending up in Bristol again. ." He trailed off and shook his head. "Although we had portals in the Chao Xi, too," he added. Noah had been their portal guy, after all, and they had had portal tags for when it was just easier to use them.
Okay, it was time to stop reminiscing, he thought. The Chao Xi was gone, and they were mages now. Not members of the Chao Xi. That was gone and it had been for a long time.
Hakan didn't ask about what Dago was looking for- It could have been top-secret Order stuff, and as much as he wanted to know about it, he doubted Marian would be too happy if he found out Hakan knew. He nodded when Dago asked if he was friends with Yasuo. "Yeah, we're friends," he said. He blinked when Dago mentioned that Yasuo talked about him a lot. "Really? What does he say?"

Dago chuckled, “Do you get lost often?”
Dago knew there were portals in the Chao Xi as well. He’d seen them first hand, back when he was training Willow to be a medical mage. Because of that, he really had no problem with Noah being completely obliterated, though he was a bit more remorseful about Willow.
He grinned when Hakan seemed almost concerned with what Yasuo was saying. As much as Dago was aware that he intimidated Yasuo, he still prattled on like his life depended on his gums flapping. He slipped up a lot when he should be paying attention to other things, so Dago probably knew more about Hakan than he should have. Yasuo didn’t seem to know the kinds of things that would be really juicy, but Dago still had to act like he didn’t know much.
“Something about pirates and spies, he’s usually pretty scattered,” he said with a wider grin.

Hakan scratched the back of his head again nervously. "Uh, sometimes," he admitted. "I'm not exactly the best person with directions ever. In my defense, though, they gave me the wrong train ticket!" And they had, the computers had somehow messed up and the person giving out tickets hadn't been paying enough attention. Hakan had been irritated, but at least he'd gotten a vacation in Bristol. That had been nice.
Hakan laughed a bit when Dago mentioned what Yasuo talked about. "Yes, pirates and spies, that isn't surprising," he said. Yasuo and Haru had always loved to play pirates and spies, and usually him and Viktoria would play with them, too. But again, those times were over now, that was the past, and Haru and Viktoria were off with the Seidhrfolk.
Besides, there was something he still wanted to know. "What does he say about me?" Hakan asked. He knew Yasuo wouldn't be saying anything horrible about him, but he hoped that his friend hadn't accidentally mentioned anything embarrassing!

Dago laughed, “That’s not a very good indicator of your sense of direction then. But I’ll believe you when you say it’s not the best.”
Dago thought Yasuo was pretty childish, so he wasn’t sure if he should believe all of his stories about playing pirates and things. Hakan just confirmed it, so that opened up that whole avenue of knowledge. Hey, maybe if Hakan liked to play pirates, he’d be willing to play other games, too.
Dago shook his head, “Nothing bad. He says you’re funny and like to talk. He also mentioned something about sleeping together.”
That wasn’t entirely true, but the meaning was still the same. Yasuo had slipped up and mentioned spending a few nights with Hakan, but then made up a lot of excuses and insisted it was innocent. Dago was pretty sure he was telling the truth, but it was fun to assume otherwise.

Hakan shrugged. "You're right, it isn't," he admitted. Still, though. He totally sucked at directions, and he usually carried around a map of Berlin despite having lived there his entire life, at least until he'd joined the Chao Xi. He even had a phone app that told him the U-bahn system and times, just to make sure he didn't end up somewhere he wasn't supposed to be at.
Oh. So Yasuo had mentioned them sharing a bed. He felt his face get a little warm and hoped it wasn't showing everywhere. "We didn't have sex or fool around or anything," Hakan said, trying to not sound like he was desperately coming up with excuses. "We're just friends, and he was lonely because him and his brother shared a room and were really close, but Haru left and joined the Seidhrfolk with his girlfriend." He hoped that that didn't have any implications of incest and that he wasn't digging himself into a hole further.
