Dago stepped out of Marian’s room and out of his office. Marian was there. He hadn’t mentioned leaving, not that he had to, it was just a bit odd not to find him there. Not that Dago was looking for any particular reason… this whole three year chastity belt business was really killing him, honestly. He didn’t like being a pest, which was usually why he stuck with multiple partners. Well, other than the whole fact that monogamy just felt suffocating…
Oh well, at least he hadn’t died again in these two and a half years, and the whole portal business was cleared up. He didn’t have to go poaching on a particular short and cute student with a very attractive way of getting flustered again. Not that he wouldn’t go looking for him for another reason maybe in six months…
He felt like his afterlife was going to start after those six months. It was frustrating, aside from being sexually frustrated, that is. He walked into the main Library, pondering his chaste dilemma.

Hakan was just exiting the main Library, and he wasn't really paying much attention to where he was going. No, he was zoned out, thinking about what if the mouses on computer were actual mice. That would be so weird; they would try to run away and eat all of the paper all over your desk and you'd have to run around.
Well, Hakan could certainly see why they had electronic mouses, not real mice. Real mice would just be inefficient, no matter how cute they sounded.
He was pushed back and blinked. Thankfully, he didn't fall. He paid attention to who he had run into and blinked a few more times. "Oh, sorry!" he said. "I wasn't paying much attention to where I was going." Hakan scratched the back of his head. Right, it was Dago, the guy who had saved his life when Noah had tried to kill him. He was really grateful.

Dago didn’t even flinch when Hakan ran into him and smiled a bit wryly. He hadn’t gotten to know Hakan very well yet, but one thing was for certain, his head was in the clouds. Had he known what he was thinking about, that thought would have been confirmed. Saving Hakan from that demon who came bursting into the library felt like old news, Dago didn’t think much of it, or know that Hakan was grateful. He would have honestly done it for anyone, ex-Chao Xi or mage.
“You’re fine,” he said, “Distracted?”
Well, seems like playing hero while he had the ability to lift cars and punch out lesser demons was becoming beneficial. He already knew he had at least a friend in Vida, he’d already begun patching things up with Hans, and now he was speaking with Hakan. Dago began to wonder how old he was and all sorts of other fun distracting things.

Hakan laughed nervously. "A bit, I was spacing out," he admitted. "Oh! I never really had a chance to thank you for saving me." It was true, he really hadn't thanked Dago. He'd kind of been trying not to pass out at the time, and then he really hadn't had a chance to thank Dago. He didn't see the man around very often, after all. Actually, most of the times he had seen him, it was because Dago had been stalking around Marian's office.
Dago was right, playing hero was very beneficial to him. Considering he'd saved at least a few of the mages' lives, he was pretty helpful, at least in Marian's eyes. Hakan didn't know about all of the people Dago had saved, but Dago had saved him, and that was certainly enough!
He didn't really know Dago's personality, though, or how he viewed 'playing hero.' Still, though, that might have not changed things too much- Hakan would still be grateful.

“Saving you?” Dago asked, suddenly remembering, “Oh, that asshole trying to choke you. That was a long time ago, wasn’t it?”
He smiled a bit at Hakan, realizing that he might have just insulted him by brushing off a thank you. Insulting the guy was probably not a good idea, considering all of the ideas that were running through Dago’s head. Perhaps being sexually frustrated wasn’t very beneficial for him or anyone around him. His fantasies tended to wax kind of impossible and anyone within eyesight was the subject.
“You’re welcome, any time,” he said, with a grin, “You’ll probably repay the favor one day.”
He didn’t really consider playing hero as a pick up thing, but it certainly wasn’t a side effect he was going to fight. He considered making sure that anyone in the Order was safe and sound when he could as earning his keep.

Hakan laughed a little again. "Yeah, it was," he admitted. "But still, I'd be six feet below the ground if you hadn't showed up." He shrugged. Noah had saved him once, too. The time he'd broken his seal, when he'd been shot. Noah had accompanied him to the hospital and had showed him the world of magic.
And then Noah had tried to kill him. It was strange, replaying the last few years of his life in his mind. It felt like some kind of comic book or something, where the protagonist was a normal journalist like Superman had been, but instead of being an alien he had just been shot and somehow gained powers by breaking something in his brain. Then a lot of dramatic stuff had happened.
Maybe it wasn't like a comic book. It was more like a fantasy novel, really.
"Hopefully!" Hakan said, smiling back. "I really am grateful, you know."

Dago regarded Hakan with a bit of a discerning look. He either laughed a lot in general or was acting anxious, almost nervous. The former was probably true but the latter was far more interesting. He didn’t hear anyone in the main Library that could possibly interrupt, so maybe some heavy toeing of his monogamy line was in order. Just to test the waters and maybe to amuse himself, partly at Hakan’s expense. If all went well, Hakan wouldn’t mind…
“I’m glad you aren’t,” Dago said with a sly grin.
There were two choices from this point. He could be subtle, which he could pull off, but preferred not to, or he could be direct. He couldn’t be too direct; this couldn’t end up in bed, but flirting with Hakan until it could, that would be fun.
“Where are you from?” he asked suddenly, “You have a really sexy accent.”

Hakan raised his eyebrows. "I'm from Berlin, and thanks. Not many people think German accents are sexy! What about you? You've got a sexy accent, too," he said. "It doesn't sound very. . Standard American." Well, that was. . Different. Hakan certainly hadn't been expecting Dago to tell him that. Dago was attractive, though, and for once he was being hit on by someone of the right gender. . Well, moving over to the Order wasn't too much of a bad thing, then, after all.
Considering the smile on Dago's face, too, even if Hakan was totally not paying attention he would have easily figured out that Dago was flirting with him, which wasn't at all a bad thing. Not a bad thing at all. Hakan hadn't been with someone in a really long time- And sex was generally a nice thing, even if there was no relationship behind it. Hakan wasn't guilty of lust or anything, otherwise he probably would have gone crazy from not getting laid in a while.

“Oh really? I don’t know what most people are thinking then,” he said with a shrug.
Dago was technically American; he was born there, but didn’t spend much time there once he was a teenager. There were enough places where he could have picked up a Spanish accent from, but he mostly considered himself from Mexico.
“I was born there, but I grew up in Mexico,” he said with a shrug, “Picked up more of an accent there than in Arizona.”
Dago didn’t know how Hakan felt about sex without relationships, it wasn’t something he really considered before he started flirting with someone. He had to hope that he was willing to wait just a little bit before that part came into play…
“What do you do in Berlin?” he asked, “I’ve seen you with a laptop around the library, do you work with computers?”
Flirting was a great pastime, in Dago’s opinion. Watching how different people respond was only part of the fun. He was switching gears a bit with Hakan, laying it on heavy one moment, then pulling back.

Hakan grinned. "Hah, me neither," he said. For him, though, his accent was totally normal. It was how German people spoke English, after all. Some pronunciations just didn't make it across different languages. And the letter 'j' was really hard to pronounce. Really, how did English speakers do that?
Hakan nodded. So he was from Arizona, huh? Hakan remembered writing articles on Arizona. He definitely wouldn't want to live there, being obviously non-white, and he was Middle Eastern. . Yeah, Hakan had no plans to visit Arizona.
He really didn't want to be shot again.
"Oh, I'm a journalist," Hakan said, shrugging. "I like my work a lot, and so I didn't want to quit when I joined the Chao Xi, so I email in all of my articles now." He had done that before, anyway. It was an online newspaper, after all, and Hakan was pretty grateful for that. It meant he didn't have to worry about missing work because of other obligations.
