Lilith stared at Renee for a long second. She didn’t understand the emotions she felt from Renee. Confused, shocked, a little bit of… well, maybe that was her own emotion. She finally understood.
“I meant I will take one of my guest bedrooms and you may sleep in my bedroom,” she clarified.
Many things were illogical in Lilith’s presence, she detested logic. It got in the way of so many more pleasant things, in her opinion. Emotion was something she understood, she saw it in other people, logic was something in the brain as well, but it wasn’t something one felt. It wasn’t something she could understand or see.
“Unless you’d like company,” she said with a soft smile.
Lighthearted teasing shouldn’t offend the girl, should it? She certainly hoped not, she was fond of her already. She wanted her to open up and be with Lilith, but that was a slow process. Oh well, it would hopefully be worth the wait.

Renee opened her mouth to respond, then closed it as she changed her mind, and nearly repeated the cycle again. She had no idea how to react to that. No, the problem was more that she had plenty of ideas how to react, and she wasn't sure which one she should do.
On one hand, maybe that's all Lilith wanted. Maybe she thought it'd been too long since she'd "gotten some" and had just decided to pick up the next person she saw. That would explain several things, but Renee would be rather offended were that the case.
However, part of her wanted very much for her to really mean it, and to accept. She attempted to mentally kick that part out of her brain, but of course it didn't work.
Furthermore, she wasn't even necessarily serious. She could be teasing her - making fun of her - about her reaction. Somehow, that seemed most likely, which made her somewhat angry (which was, of course, mostly because she actually did want that, and her refusal to admit it). "I wasn't suggesting anything like that. Anyway, I'm fine with a guest room."

Lilith frowned a little bit. She was kind of hoping she’d take her seriously! That would have made things easier. She wasn’t about to call Renee out on her betrayed emotions, especially since she wasn’t aware of Lilith’s empathetic ability. Lilith had meant it, but Renee didn’t seem to feel that way. Her eyes looked a tiny bit disappointed, but she quickly covered it up.
“I insist,” she said, “You’ll be more comfortable there.”
She needed to upgrade her guest rooms, she decided and then she wouldn’t feel the need to give up her own room. Oh well, that was for another day when she had more funds and more power. She curtseyed to Renee and left without saying another word. She had someone inform her Lieutenant of her new friend and her desire to train with her and requested she be ready in the morning.
