Renee looked around. Where was this, now? It was a lot warmer than it was when she fell asleep. There were still a lot of demons around, but this definitely wasn't the forest she had fallen asleep in.
She looked around for the Hell Cat that had led her here. She was still in the same place as before, sleeping. Knowing how they were, Renee didn't dare wake her up.
Standing up, she surveyed the place. It was darker, even though it should have been daytime. It seemed like there was a lot of fire, too, but she wasn't sure what could be burning. Oddly enough, there didn't seem to be much smoke, because she was breathing just fine.
A wolf approached them. He looked around the group. Some were awake, and some were asleep. Most were demons, leaving her as the only human. The wolf turned its gaze to her and began to drool a bit. "Shit," Renee muttered. She had neglected to bring any weapons. If it was a human, she didn't really need them, but when it came to demons... she didn't normally need to fight them in the first place, so she hadn't thought of it. She had never seen this type, but she knew it was a demon.
He howled. Some more wolves like him came. They began to circle around their prey.
Disturbed by the loud howl, the Hell Cat woke up. She looked at them and quickly figured out what was going on. She stood up and glared at them, annoyed they had woken her up.
"This one is an ally," she told them.
"That doesn't stop her from being edible," one of the wolves responded.
"Human allies are valuable. She will be useful to us."
Renee wasn't sure she liked the idea of being kept around just because she was 'useful,' but it seemed to convince the Hell Wolves to stop wanting to eat her, so she didn't argue.

Perched on a rotting tree, there was a large snowy owl watching the scene in front of it. It suddenly hooted loudly, alerting all of its mistress’ arrival.
Beyond view, there was a great roar; all of the demons that were around Renee quickly scattered, many yelping in fear. The Terasque was not a beast many would choose to mess with. It bounded over the hill, its many legs hitting the ground, making the earth shake. It looked like a Chinese parade dragon, but had purple scales with gold fur around its lion’s head and eyes that shone like sapphires. Sitting on top of the beast, in a gold and scarlet saddle was a beautiful woman with shiny raven hair and alabaster skin. She had a serene look on her face, which suddenly turned concerned when she spotted Renee.
She patted the Terasque gently on one of its great ivory horns; making the beast immediately stop. There was a loud pop all of a sudden, and an extremely handsome man appeared out of nowhere, by the woman’s side. He had long blonde hair that seemed almost white, a stark contrast to a pair of giant black wings that jutted out from his back. He took the lady’s hand and helped her off the saddle. She wore a gossamer white dress that seemed to make her skin glow with dainty green slippers on her tiny feet. She approached Renee with what seemed liquid grace. She held her hand out to the girl.
“Hello,” she said, her voice sounding like silk on water, “Are you lost, my dear?”

Cain didn't really like going around hell much. Nobody bothered him, obviously, but fighting them and seeing the looks on their faces when they realized they couldn't kill him was half the fun. Humans were much more amusing, Cain thought. They never guessed who he was, not even the fire-and-brimstone, Jonathon Edwardsesque preachers. Humans were just so fun to screw with.
And there was some poor human girl wandering around here with a Hell Cat. Belphegor's? Belphegor was a lazy bastard, Cain had always thought, and absolutely no fun. The wolves were Mammon's, who was also a bastard. The girl didn't seem to know how to deal with them on her own. Maybe she was new. If that were true, then she wouldn't know who he was. Oh, this could be fun.
Of course, then that whore and her court showed up. Cain didn't like Lilith much, either, and he was pretty sure she shared the sentiment. Of course, she had to come in and ruin his fun. Of course. And Terasque and Samael were with her, as always. Pretty pathetic, they were, but smart enough not to screw with him. This could be interesting.
"Well, look who it is," Cain said, strolling into the view of everyone. "Going on a midnight walk?" He had a feral grin on his face.

Suddenly, Renee saw all the demons running away. She looked around in confusion, and wondering if she should be concerned. If it was something bad enough to scare away the demons... well, it had to be pretty bad, she figured.
A big beast approached her. She had never seen one like that before, nor did she know what it was. No matter what it was, she could completely understand why the demons would be afraid of it. Then again, was it really so evil? A beautiful woman was riding the demon, and she didn't look evil, which made Renee think they probably wouldn't get along very well.
The woman and demon stopped, and a random guy with wings appeared. When it came to demons, she had learned to not be surprised. The woman held out a hand to her, which Renee looked at in confusion. Was she supposed to shake it? Most people, when shaking your hand, would at least introduce themselves... It seemed weird to just ignore it, so she introduced herself, "My name is Renee," and shook her hand.
Oh. She'd wanted to know if Renee was lost. "Not exactly... I just kind of don't know where I am." Wow, that sounded cool-- wait, why should she care if she sounded cool or not? What did it matter?
A man approached them. There was something about his attitude that almost seemed similar to herself, which made her instantly on guard. She had no idea what time it was, and of course she didn't recognize him, so she could only assume he was talking to the woman.

Lillith kept ahold of Renee’s hand, clutching it when Cain came near. She pulled Renee close to her chest with an unusual amount of strength, like she was trying to protect her from the oncoming man.
“Cain,” she said, with a small hiss, “So lovely to see you. What brings you to hell?”
She had an obvious dislike for Cain, but kept an air of courtesy. The Terasque growled a low growl and Samael said nothing, knowing his lady well enough to know when to intervene. She narrowed her pretty dark eyes, keeping Renee close to her.
“If you want this child or to bother me, I’d suggest against it. My current lover has become less afraid of your God nowadays,” she said, meaning the Lord of Hell.
She ran one dainty hand through her abyss of hair. She was making an attempt to seem coquettish and beautiful, which normally came easily, but she hated dealing with Cain. He wasn’t so easily manipulated. There was no way she’d fight out of this situation, so perhaps she could seduce her way out.

Aww, how cute! Lilith was being protective of this human girl. Cain laughed a bit. "I'm not here for the girl, Lilith. Earth is so boring, I figured I might as well take a walk in the park. What's wrong with that?" He laughed again, this time much more sinisterly.
He scowled when Lilith brought up 'his God.' "Don't you fucking dare call him my God, bitch." His expression suddenly changed, and he suddenly just grinned, his demeanor changing completely again. "Although of course you'd call him God, wouldn't you? Is that why you're with ha-Satan? Giving him the middle finger for kicking you out?" He shrugged. "Although to be honest, I don't really care how powerful you think ha-Satan is. It doesn't matter, anyway. Not even the adversary could survive being smited seven times over by God." Whenever he said 'God,' he seemed to positively relish the word.
Lilith actually did look pretty nice, he noticed, although he couldn't think of her like that. Too creepy, thinking about fucking your dad's ex-wife.

Renee raised an eyebrow, unsure exactly why she was being pulled to the woman's chest. Not that she really minded it, although something about the notion that it seemed to be rather protective she disliked. After all, it wasn't as though she needed protection - she could take care of herself.
It was pretty obvious that it would be an understatement to say that these two didn't like each other. Renee couldn't see everything that was going on from her position, but she could hear them talking. Their conversation was less than pleasant, no matter how the woman initially made it sound.
Something about the way the man talked to the woman pissed her off. She wasn't sure why, since normally she found watching arguments to be enjoyable, but she decided it was probably just her libido or something. She debated whether she should take him on or stay where she was and listen. She decided on the latter - only because she was curious, of course; it had nothing to do with the raven-haired woman.

Lillith scowled at Cain, clearly he misunderstood her.
“I could truly care less about ‘God,’ however he would be called,” she scoffed, “I was cast out of his ‘light’ because of your father and his ‘God’s’ concept of a woman. I’d rather ignore such blatant sexism than waste my time despising it.”
She huffed again, “It’s not a matter of how powerful I think he is either, I’m just telling you the truth.”
She could feel Renee getting restless in her arms; she could almost feel the indignant annoyance resonating from the girl. If she had any clue with whom Lillith was conversing with, she’d calm down immediately. Being mortal, regardless if you were in hell or not, made getting smote seven times over much more agonizing. She always held the belief that their God had something against his creations when they were made. He could have made them a tiny bit more resilient to his and other immortals power.
“Now, if you please, go find your entertainment elsewhere,” she said, still trying to maintain her air of manners, “Perhaps we can chat another time?”

Cain grinned again. "Really? You seem to still be despising it rather than ignoring it, still. It's been six thousand years, lady." He leaned back on a tree and folded his arms. "Really, you hold a grudge. And it's not like anyone stayed in that garden long after you left, anyway." He shrugged again. Six thousand years, he thought. He was getting old.
Cain knew that Lilith's lover was powerful- Duh, he was only the guy in charge of Hell for a reason- But Cain didn't think he was as powerful as, say, God. After all, if he were, then things would certainly be different on Earth. Wars and terror weren't anything new. It was just another decade to Cain.
He looked at the redheaded girl in Lilith's arms. Aw, how protectively Lilith had grabbed the girl! How adorable, except not. He laughed, and spoke again: "You're no fun. Has anyone ever told you that? But, sure. I await the day I can speak to your Unholy Majesty again." He began walking away, laughing.

Six thousand years? What the hell? This guy had to be crazy or something - there was no way this woman was that old, Renee decided. It seemed unlikely, due to her human appearance, that she was a demon, and humans certainly didn't live that long. She had no idea what this guy was going on about. She decided that the next time she saw him, she might fight him or something. She didn't like his attitude. He seemed to think he was better than them or something. People like that pissed her off - and made her want to show them just how weak they were compared to her.
Finally, that guy left. Renee pulled away from the woman. She did NOT need to be protected! After all, she had... while, actually, she didn't actually have any real weapons at the moment, since she'd had to leave that guy's knife with him so it wouldn't be too suspicious, and she hadn't brought anything else with her. Well, she didn't necessarily need weapons to fight.
